Julián Muñoz Montes

Hello everyone! I'm Julián Muñoz Montes and I currently work as  Head of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure at the halls of residence at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. We manage five different residences, accommodating up to 800 students each year.

What motivated you to participate in the Live My Life programme?

I was motivated by the opportunity to learn how similar roles to mine are managed and scheduled in other partner universities.

What was the most captivating or interesting moment of the week?

There were many captivating moments, such as the visit to the university's museum, their incredibly well-organized and modern university and paper clinic, and the Una Europa meeting and many more. It was a full week with lots of interesting people and topics.

Tell us something new you have learnt during your days in the partner institution that you didn’t know before.

I learned that we are doomed to work with the challenging and not user-friendly SAP program for economic affairs across Europe.

What words/expressions did you learn in the language of the host country during your stay abroad?

I learned the most typical phrases: Good morning, good afternoon, please, thanks, hi, and goodbye.

Tell us about your Una Europa partner and what you learnt or found interesting about them.

Agnieszka is a very intelligent and passionate professional. She was eager to show me their methodology, history, infrastructure, partners, and traditions. The main point I learned is to appreciate Poland and Krakow through her eyes.

What lessons or experiences have you taken home with you?

From our visit and interview at their hall of residences, I found some interesting possibilities that we may implement in the future. However, the main takeaway is the passion and energy that young professionals put into their work, and I also gained valuable contacts for the future.

Would you recommend that others take part in Live My Life? If so, why?

Absolutely. Everyone should have this kind of experience at least once in their professional career. It opens your eyes to different methods and ways of doing things, allows you to meet interesting people, and broadens your perspective.
