The Alliance of European Universities 'Una Europa', of which the University of Bologna is a member, addressed the topic of citizen science from the point of view of the use of methodologies in research.
The term citizen science (literally, science of the citizens in English) indicates that complex of activities linked to scientific research that envisages the involvement of non-academic subjects and, in particular, citizens.

Its use is already widespread in fields such as biology and environmental studies, but its application can embrace a wide range of disciplines. In fact, the possibilities for collaboration between researchers and citizens are manifold: from contributing to project development, to data collection, to active participation in the analysis phase, to participation in the dissemination of research results.

Thanks to a series of video interviews with a number of researchers from the universities of the Una Europa alliance, it is now possible to learn more about the most effective strategies for involving citizens in the various phases of a research project, for enhancing their contribution and for maximising the impact of their participation on the quality and results of the projects.

The researchers involved recounted their experience with reference to projects in the field of identification, conservation and recognition of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The interviews and some insights are available online at: "Una Europa Citizen Science Toolkit" (developed by the Alliance within the framework of the research and innovation project Una.Resin).

It introduces the experiences of researchers and effective strategies to involve citizens in the different phases of projects.
