The micro-credit course in sustainability consists of five MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), which award the learner 10 ECTS credits upon completion. After studying the introductory course, there are four further courses covering the environmental, economic and social aspects of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

You will learn to analyse sustainability, its meaning and implications with an interdisciplinary approach.

By the end of the programme, you will have a basic understanding of sustainability from an environmental, social and economic perspective.

The micro-credential programme

  •         Provides a holistic understanding of global sustainability challenges and how to address them.
  •         Critically discusses the dimensions, theories and concepts of sustainability.
  •         Responds to the needs of the green transition, the rapidly changing labour market and society at large.
  •         Provide a flexible way to complement your degree in any discipline with research-based knowledge and skills in sustainable development.

Developed jointly by three universities within Una Europa, the Micro-credential programme is based on the latest research in environmental, sustainability and atmospheric sciences, economics and the arts. The Micro-credential is included as a module in the curriculum of the Master of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Helsinki.
