One Health (Day) – What is it?

One Health is a transdisciplinary approach to health, aiming to optimize the health of humans, animals and the environment we live in. The One Health approach recognizes that the health of humans, animals and the environment are interlinked, and that imbalances in one area negatively affect the health of other areas.

The International One Health Day on 3 November brings attention to topics that concern human, animal and environmental health all over the world. In the midst of security challenges, increased spill-over of zoonotic diseases, environmental degradation and pollution, the International One Health Day is a moment to focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.
