This seminar aims to explore the diverse interpretations that the myth of Antigone has inspired over time, from historical and philosophical readings to major dramatic rewritings. By revisiting these perspectives today, the event will reexamine fundamental questions about the relationship between law and justice and investigate how Antigone continues to spark forms of active citizenship.
The talk serves as an introduction to the performance Antigone by the prison theatre company Puntozero, based at the Cesare Beccaria Juvenile Detention Centre in Milan, which will be staged as part of I Classici di Ateneo on 22 May.
