Study and work environments

In order to prevent risk situations and ensure compliance with safety rules, you need to conduct yourself in a manner that does not endanger your own safety or that of others. In particular:

• When you enter a lecture room, identify the escape routes by looking for the green signs;
• Do not tamper with or remove emergency equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, signs) and do not block escape routes;
• In the event of an emergency, follow the instructions of the teacher or emergency team;
• If you notice a breakage or anomaly that could put anyone at risk, notify the University staff immediately;
• Make appropriate use of facilities and furniture – for example, avoid sitting on radiators or railings;
• Do not run or push when you enter or leave the lecture room;
• Do not smoke inside the premises or in the area immediately outside entrances or windows.

When you carry out experimental work in a laboratory, make sure to take appropriate preventive and protective measures to protect yourself and those around you.

When misused, office equipment can often cause minor injuries. Equipment such as photocopiers and printers can release hazardous chemicals.

Using display screen equipment systematically or routinely requires certain precautions to be taken in order to prevent the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders, visual fatigue and mental fatigue.
