Modern Applications of Symmetries in Quantum Field Theory

Symmetries are a powerful tool for organizing physical phenomena and anchoring our comprehension of the laws of nature. In the last century, the concept of symmetry has advanced alongside quantum physics, becoming intricately linked with quantum field theory and topology. Recently, new generalized concepts of symmetry have been developed, reigniting the longstanding aspiration to classify phases of field theories based on patterns of symmetry realization in the vacuum. In this talk, I will survey these recent developments and illustrate several applications drawn from my recent work on the subject over the past few years.
