Lagrangian double copy: an algebraic perspective

Double copy has been a very useful tool to derive gravitational scattering amplitudes from gauge theory scattering amplitudes. While this can be understood from on-shell methods, an understanding of this connection at a Lagrangian level has remained elusive. In this talk, I will present some recent progress in deriving a gravitational gauge invariant action, to cubic order, from a doubling procedure of Yang-Mills. More precisely, I will show how to obtain Double Field Theory at cubic order by doubling the "color-stripped" kinematic algebra of Yang-Mills.
