NEMUS - Numerical Restoration of Historical Musical Instruments is an ERC-funded project (July 2021-June 2026) dedicated to the numerical restoration of instruments that are out of playing condition. This project blends music, acoustics, advanced numerical simulation and sound synthesis elements. The project is funded by the ERC panel SH5 Cultures and Cultural Production.
Our logo reflects the attempt to reproduce the sound of historical musical instruments through digital technology. A set of wires appears to leave the boundaries of the soundboard. The black panels below mimic a keyboard and represent the digital (i.e. sampled) steps occurring in a typical computer simulation routine.
