Dr. Hamada Kotb (The Fellow)

Hamada Kotb holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D in Archaeological Conservation from Cairo University, Egypt. He is Associate Professor of the Conservation Department, Faculty of Archaeology, Fayoum University, Egypt. He was a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown University and at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. Sadek was Samuel H. Kress Fellow for Advanced Studies in Art Conservation 2010-2011, Arizona State Museum – the University of Arizona. He has been fellow at universities and institutes in France, Germany, Poland, Romania and the USA. He is a Professional Associate and Sustainability Committee member of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. Since 2016 he has been a member of the conservation team of the University of Michigan Abydos Middle Cemetery (AMC) project.

Dr. Kotb is currently a Marie Curie Fellow at Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, University of Bologna. He was awarded project VOLATILE4ARCHAEO, that was selected for funding by the European Commission within the call H2020-MSCA-IF-2020 of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, for 24 months. 

Prof. Elisa Franzoni (Coordinator)

Elisa Franzoni is PhD in Materials Engineering and Associate Professor of Materials Science and Technology (with scientific qualification to Full Professor).

Her research interests, in the field of building materials, mainly concern materials for Cultural Heritage conservation. She has collaborations with universities, companies and public authorities in Italy and abroad. Her research activity is documented by more than 160 scientific publications (91 in Scopus, H-index 28).

She is involved in several national and international research projects and responsible for many projects funded by industry. She is member of RILEM, Associate Editor of Materials and Structures, Representative of UNIBO in the Committee “Heritage and Regeneration” within the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP). Since May 2021, she is Deputy Director of the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering.
