Polluted soils remediation activities may lead the emission of the soil contaminants in the atmosphere, in particular VOC and PM. This may result in a serious exposure to the contaminants of the population and of the workers involved in the remediation activities. Atmospheric dispersion models are very useful for estimating the concentrations at the point of exposition (POE), but they are complex and require good experience.
The objective of this research is the study of simplified atmospheric dispersion models specifically designed for polluted soils and usable in GIS environment. The study is based on models well known and widely used as AERMOD and CALPUFF.
Basic knowledge and skills on: atmospheric pollution, computer programming, GIS.
