Main research activities/topics/projects

Description of the main research activities:

• Rheology of Binders: mechanical characterization of bituminous, synthetic and bio-binders;
• Dynamic Testing for Mixtures: mechanical characterization of road materials including warm mix asphalt, hot and cold recycled mixtures;
• Interlayer reinforcement systems: assessment of the effect of geosynthetics and tack coat application on the flexural and shear properties of bituminous systems;  
• Investigation on tire-pavement interaction: evaluation of the main pavement properties that affect user safety, including skid resistance/friction, polishing and ravelling characteristics of dense and open graded wearing courses.
