Main research activities/topics/projects

Decarbonisation and reduction of environmental impact of steel production including hydrogen use, by-products reuse and recycling, industrial symbiosis and energy efficiency. The work refers to modelling, simulation, management and optimization of processes involved in the iron and steel production and manufacturing. The work can include physics-based modelling in dedicated simulation environments (e.g. Aspen Plus, Modelica) and/or application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and techniques and Hybrid-AI methods. Depending on the specific topic, the field of research can refer to metallurgy and material science, chemical science and engineering, computer science and engineering
