Main research activities/topics/projects

The candidate can be involved in several activities dealing with geospatial data collection, processing and understanding currently carried out at the Interdepartmental Research Center of Geomatics, according to his/her interests. Among the possible research topics and activities, it is worth to mention:

• Geospatial data semantic segmentation (e.g., to support BIM/H-BIM generation)
• Data analysis and understanding applied to LiDAR/Photogrammetry point clouds through machine/deep learning-based methods
• Development and test of affordable indoors and outdoors mobile mapping systems
• UAV-based data collection and analysis
• Development and test of SLAM-based positioning and mapping
• Development and test of collaborative positioning approaches, exploiting both communications between the involved ground (e.g. cars) and aerial (e.g. UAVs) platforms
• Real time processing of LiDAR/camera data to support autonomous driving
• HD-Maps generation, update and use in autonomous driving applications
• Development and test of Precise Point Positioning approaches, exploiting also the new opportunities provided by Galileo
• Development of GIS and Web-GIS applications
• Precision agriculture and forestry applications
• Development of SAR/InSAR- based Remote Sensing applications
