Plastic transport in natural rivers is a challenging problem affecting many water bodies. In the last decades, such problem has become more evident, because of the large diffusion of plastic products. Furthermore, plastics transported by rivers contribute to increase oceans pollution, thus reducing biological diversity and posing serious threats to different fish species. In this frame, the prospective PhD candidate/Post Doc will analyse the dynamics of macro-plastic transport in laboratory flumes and, eventually, in the field. Furthermore he/she will test the effectiveness of several, innovative structural countermeasures in controlling plastic debris transport. The fields of research are eco-hydraulics and hydraulic structures.
