Department

Department of Mathematics and Geosciences

Main research activities/topics/projects

The research will cover two broad topics. First, optimization techniques and learning representation for intelligent agents, both embodied (simulated robots) and disembodied, with the eventual goal to investigate the interplay between different timescales of adaptation (reaction, learning, development, evolution). Second, algorithmical improvements to nature-inspired and population-based optimization techniques, mainly in the field of evolutionary computation.

Familiarity with popular machine learning techniques, tools (classification, regression), and computer languages (e.g., Python, Java).
