Main research activities/topics/projects

This project aims to develop a new generation of polymeric materials with enhanced adhesive properties for cells and tissues. By employing a design-by-architecture approach to identify factors influencing interactions between the synthesized macromolecules and biological systems, biocompatible functional copolymers will be optimized for the development of surgical adhesives and smart nanomaterials for targeted drug delivery. Research activities will deepen knowledge in polymer chemistry, materials science, nanomedicine, and drug delivery. The project will benefit from the synergistic collaboration between our department and hospital research groups in Milan for the final biomedical application.
