Main research activities/topics/projects

Capitalizing on the potential of innovative wearable sensor technologies, this project proposal aims to comprehensively explore the relationship between human behaviors and process performances within working environments. Special attention will be also directed towards the well-being of the workforce. This empirical investigation will span across selected manufacturing and service contexts, employing wearable sensors, including smartwatches, intelligent apparel (such as smart t-shirts), brainwave sensors, and smartphones, and environmental sensors. These technological instruments will be exploited for capturing in real-time diverse aspects of human factors, encompassing body movements, heart rate fluctuations, team interactions, etc.. Following the data collection, a combination of advanced Statistical and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies will be employed. These techniques will allow to build behavioral models for both individuals and teams and establish connections between these models and operational performances, as well as the workers’ well-being. Managerial indications will be devised based on the research results. The project will leverage field tests and real datasets.
