Project Objective: The RETURN programme, with a resource allocation of 115 mil/€, is an extended partnership aiming at strengthening research chains on environmental, natural and man-made hazards at national level and promoting their participation in strategic European and global value chains. By enhancing the knowledge base, targeting the application and exploitation of technology, the RETURN extended partnership contributes to strengthening key competences, technology and knowledge transfer, and Italian governance in disaster risk management, with the involvement of public administrations, stakeholders and private companies.
Specific Objective: Involvement in WP6 T 6.5 Re-skilling and up-skilling of the asset management workforce. The study investigates the role played by Representation in relation to information and communication theories and techniques. In fact, the activity aims to identify innovative technologies based on the application of virtual reality (mixed, immersive, or holographic and augmented) in order to develop ‘sustainable’ training paths for operators. The sustainability in question is to be understood both in terms of decision-making speed and intervention capacity, in complex intervention contexts with strong multidisciplinary interferences, and in terms of the simplicity of the operator's approach to the available contents and tools. The survey is conducted with reference to the methodological and technological state of the art found in the literature in relation to infrastructural works or similar contexts. Evaluations on the retraining and up-skilling of the asset management workforce are extended by considering not only workers currently working in the supply chain, but also young students who will enter the workforce, bringing new digital skills into the world of work.
