Commons and the just city

Since 2019, AUDe Lab has developed specific activities tagged within the City as a Commons network. It focuses on socio-spatial commons, and their dynamic relation to commoning practices and architectural agency. 

Activities deal primarily (even not exclusively) with open spaces, deeply engaging and empowering local communities, unfolding tools and methods in a non-extractive fashion. Design thinking unfold in a socially situated and responsible fashion.

Recent funded / on-going projects include:  

• COSMO: commoning in relation to self-build architectural practices (2024-2026);
• Design for vulnerables (in collaboration with Tech Monterrey, Mexico) (2022 – ongoing) (led by Prof. Tiziano Cattaneo);
• SarPe KA2 Project on situated pedagogies (with TU Delft, ITU and UMA) (2022-2025);
• Moruzzi Road beyond a road (Pavia) (2021 – ongoing)
• Energy retrofit (multi-floor condominium) and co-design/participation processes (with industry partner);
• Urban Quality and Urban Quality of Life, Sustainability indicators.

AUDe Lab@Unipv focuses on contemporary city production processes, architectural and urban design at various scales (building, open spaces, territory and landscape) and it is active since 2002.
