The introduction of VR-solutions adds new layers of reality in society. Technologies like VR, AR, MR, and XR would reshape user experience, breaking physical and geographical boundaries. These technologies also claim the potential to seriously renew the landscape of many industries. When in their conceptual stages, these technologies appear deceptive, but the disruptive potential of these technologies comes, not only from the transformations in user experience but also from breaking down physical and geographical boundaries. Currently, immersive technologies present impressive speed and potential impact of reaching organizations and changing their practices. Despite this, the current management literature has some gaps to respond to.

The research project explores the process of assimilation of immersive technologies into organizations, based on a mixed-method approach. The project aims to contribute to the Organizational literature and Management theory bringing attention to relevant intelligence processes largely employed by technology early adopters.

The project is intended to investigate organizations deciding on the adoption of immersive technologies (VR-based) to their internal processes or services. Quali-quantitative methods apply, including survey or multiple case study methodology to understand the practices adopted by organizations related to those technologies. In a second stage of the project, also experimental methods can be adopted.
