One of the most promising fields for the application of UHPC are infrastructures – bridges, pavements, infrastructures for energy harvesting –, which are often exposed to cyclic loading and extremely aggressive environmental conditions during their service life. The project will focus on the characterization of the fatigue behaviour of the material under a variety of stress states (compression, flexure, shear) and stress levels and combined environmental actions (exposure to chloride rich environments, freeze and thaw), as a crucial aspect for structural design, also assessing the benefit in extending fatigue service life through autogenous self healing capacity of the material.
