Filippo obtained his PhD in Nanoscience for Medicine and the Environment from the University of Bologna in 2024, following a Master’s Degree in Physics (Material Physics and Nanoscience curriculum) from the same university in October 2020. After postdoctoral research activities at the Department of Physics and Astronomy and at the CIRI-MAM Center of the University of Bologna, he is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Biosystem Science and Engineering (DBSSE) at ETH Zurich and a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DIFA), University of Bologna. His research focuses on the study and development of advanced bioelectronic devices based on nanostructured polymeric materials.

TC studied chemistry and physics at the University of Freiburg (D) and finished in 2006 with a Ph.D. degree. After a period of post-doctoral fellowships with stays in Germany, Italy and United States, he is now Associate Professor in Materials Physics at UNIBO. TC is interested in flexible electronic sensors and transducers with applications in Human-Technology Interfaces, Life-Sciences and radiation sensing. The leitmotiv in his research are charge transport phenomena in condensed matter, which TC has investigated by theoretical and experimental methods. TC is co-author of +60 scientific articles and book chapters, his h-index is 34.

Andreas Hierlemann is Full Professor at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering at ETH Zurich and head of the Bio Engineering Laboratory (BEL). His research is strongly interdisciplinary and is aimed at developing and applying microtechnology and microelectronics to address questions in biology and biomedicine. Prof. Hierlemann received several awards for his work, including the IEEE Donald G. Fink Prize Paper Award, the Eurosensors Fellow Award, and the DECHEMA Award of the Max Buchner Research Foundation. He also received two ERC Advanced Investigator Grants in 2010 and 2015, respectively. He has authored more than 340 indexed peer-reviewed journal papers (H-factor 71) and has given several dozens of plenary and keynote invited presentations at conferences.
