The MITO project in brief

MITO is developing a scalable bioelectronic platform that uses electrical impedance spectroscopy to monitor 3D cell cultures in real time, without toxic labels or time/resources-consuming imaging assays. By combining microstructured and multifunctional polymeric microwells with arrays of organic electronic sensors, it will reveal how miniature tumour tissues organize, interact and respond to different therapeutic approaches.
Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under the Horizon Europe program (grant agreement n° 101201836), the project brings together the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DIFA) of the University of Bologna and the Department of Biosystem Science and Engineering (DBSSE) of ETH Zurich.
