MEMOREC is an interdisciplinary project that integrates demographic, climatic, and geographic data to provide an open-access database, useful for those studying the impact of climate change on the population and territories of Emilia-Romagna. It involves researchers from the Departments of Statistical Sciences, Cultural Heritage, and History, Cultures, and Civilizations. By creating a georeferenced database for spatiotemporal analysis, the project aims to map the sociodemographic vulnerabilities of local communities in relation to extreme climatic events, contributing to the planning of effective territorial policies. MEMOREC also includes the recovery and enhancement of historical photographic documentation of extreme climatic events in Emilia-Romagna, as well as the reconstruction and dissemination of statistical sources related to demographic and climatic dynamics in historical times, to document the relationships between population, territories, and climatic-environmental impact. The MEMOREC project also aims to recover the historical memory of the impact of climatic and environmental conditions on the population, documenting how communities have reacted and adapted over time.
