OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a free map of the entire world that was created and is constantly updated by millions of volunteers around the world through a crowdmapping process. It can provide basic mapping for areas of the world that do not have it, or enrich existing cartographic bases; its availability is critical to support the development of disadvantaged regions or emergency operations in the event of disasters.
The area of Geomatics at DICAM runs humanitarian collaborative mapping events (Mapathons) on OpenStreetMap on a regular basis. The events are available to everyone, both students and non-students.
