Mapathon 2023-11

OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a free map of the entire world that is constantly created and edited by millions of volunteers around the world through a process of collaborative mapping (crowdmapping) that can help provide and update maps for areas of the world that do not have one; their availability is crucial to support emergency operations in case of disasters.

In the frame of OSM GeoWeek 2023, the area of Geomatics at Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM) will host an in-person Mapathon event. 

The OSM project will be introduced during the event, and the participants will be assisted in their first steps. Mapping actions related to climate change and extreme weather events will be performed using remote sensing satellite imagery.

• NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED

Please note that to participate actively in the initiative (held in English), you will need to bring your own laptop, and an external mouse is highly recommended.
