"The ‘nomocene’ and the ‘Anthropocenic Legal Tradition’: a narrative hypothesis" is a new LUMEN publication by Pasquale Viola, member of the UNITS research unit, on DPCE On Line (July 18, 2024).
The publication explores the importance of developing specific narratives within legal spaces, highlighting a paradigmatic shift in the humanities and proposing the concept of "nomocene," as detailed in the following abstract.
Abstract: The essay addresses issues deriving from a different methodological approach in terms of integrated and complex systems, with the aim of acknowledging the need for the development of specific – and functional – narratives within legal spaces. To this end, the analysis focuses on the paradigmatic change within humanities to further provide a tentative definition of legal tradition. The second part highlights the need to think about the concept ‘nomocene’ as a functional (and not autonomous) element of the Anthropoce, for acknowledging the ongoing establishment of an ‘Anthropocenic tranversal tradition’.
