A new volume in the Ecosocial Dossiers Series titled "Retos para la sostenibilidad: estrategias para enfrentar el futuro" is now available online, bringing the sustainability debate back to the forefront by exploring the tensions between development and sustainability, anthropocentrism and biocentrism, the universe and the "pluriverse."
The concept of sustainability is everywhere, yet its deeper meaning is often misinterpreted and exploited for economic interests that use the term without respecting its essence.
Released by Fuhem, the book, coordinated by Patricio Carpio Benalcazar and introduced with a prologue by Alberto Acosta, collects contributions from the 1st International Forum “Challenges of Sustainability,” held in October 2023 at the University of Cuenca.
Among the authors are Alberto Acosta, economist and environmental activist; Eduardo Gudynas, researcher at CLAES; Yayo Herrero, anthropologist and professor at UNED in Spain; and many others.
This collection provides critical tools to reflect on how to address global ecological challenges, transcending the limitations of “modernity” and capitalism.
