As part of the International Year of Glaciers, the Forte di Bard Association, under the patronage of the University of Trieste and in collaboration with key scientific and cultural institutions, is launching a call for papers for early-career researchers (PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars) to participate in the conference "The Law of Glaciers", to be held on 14–15 November 2025 at Forte di Bard (Aosta Valley), during the annual event Meteolab-Climalab.
The conference will take a comparative and interdisciplinary approach to examine the legal challenges concerning the protection, conservation, and possible restoration of glacial ecosystems, with particular attention to property regimes, human activities in mountain areas, and cross-border cooperation.
The event is supported by a Scientific Committee including Prof. Roberto Louvin, member of the University of Trieste’s research unit; Prof. Michele Vellano; and Prof. Lucio Pegoraro, member of the Latin America Study Center, which coordinates the LUMEN project. The Organizing Committee is coordinated by Dr. Pasquale Viola, also a member of the University of Trieste’s research unit.
Five paper proposals will be selected for presentation, and their authors will receive travel reimbursement and free accommodation. All selected contributions will be considered for publication in a special issue of the scientific journal Poliarchie/Polyarchies, following a peer-review process.
