The “Virtual laboratory on food losses and waste reduction, management and valorization - LatinLAB”, is intended as an open innovation ecosystem that engages public and private actors in research, policy and community innovation activities through a co-creation process.
The laboratory will take a service-learning approach placing stakeholders, with a special focus on local communities, vulnerable groups, young generations and entrepreneurs, at the center of the innovation process. An agenda will be developed ensuring structured coordination among the different stakeholders.
Building on previous experiences of DISTAL with Latin America Universities and Research Centers the Lab will be aimed to facilitate:
the identification of community needs and challenges in the domain of food losses and waste reduction, management and valorization;
the collaboration between academic and non-academic stakeholders;
mobility opportunities for students, researches and young entrepreneurs.
The LatinLAB will be developed in virtual modality taking advantage of various interactive technological tools to encourage discussion and carry out the activities.
