ICSI

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is the assisted fertilization technique required for in vitro embryo production in horses. It is used with oocytes recovered in vivo by ovum pick-up or from ovaries of dead mares for genetic rescue. The obatined embryos can be transferred fresh or be frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen

Embryo Transfer

Embryo transfer from a donor mare to a recipient allows to obtain foals from mares engaged in competitive activity or from mares that can not complete a pregnancy. The recovered embryos can also be frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen for later use.
