Complex Fluids in Fractured Geological Media for Enhanced Heat Transfer

GEONEAT is an EU-funded research project under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions that aims to comprehend the potential of polymer fluids in deep geothermal systems, adopting an interdisciplinary approach that exploits the numerical and experimental expertise of a top-notch consortium composed of the University of Bologna, Stanford University, and Geosciences Rennes. Advanced techniques from information theory and surrogate modeling, supported by an analog experimental campaign, are involved to analyse polymer flow in geologic fractured media to quantify heat transport properties, and in inverse modeling to characterize subsurface reservoirs.
