BEFORE THE ARRIVAL
1. Why did you decide to do an Erasmus Experience and to come to our University?
The reason why I chose to be part of an Erasmus exchange program was to get in touch with a higher education system and at the same time, to get in touch with foreign culture and with everything that means student life in a foreign country. I have chosen UNIBO for the reputation that this university has and due to the references received from colleagues who have studied here.
Offices and bureaucracy
1. Did you have any problem with the bureaucracy, to communicate with our Erasmus Offices, to have the information that you needed about our University and our available courses? Did you have the right support from your Erasmus coordinator and professor?
Everyone involved in the program from UNIBO gave me the support and all the information I needed. All the steps of the program were easy to get through just because of this. Also, the university’s website is very well designed and organized.
2. Evaluate with a number from 1 to 10 the quality and the efficiency of our Erasmus Offices during the process:
10
3. Was it easy to choose the courses to follow in our University and to write the Learning Agreement ?
Yes
Accommodation
1. Where did you decide to live? In Ozzano or in Bologna? Why?
My accommodation was in Ozzano, because it was easier to get to the faculty daily and it was very helpful during the tirocinio. For social life it has been a disadvantage, but I can say that I have compensated by traveling and interacting with people on the trips made in Italy and during the days spent in Bologna. In conclusion I can say it was a good decision.
2. Was it difficult for you to find accommodation?
Yes
*In case of negative evaluation give some suggestions to solve the problems for the future Erasmus students:
Active support from other students based in Italy early before the start of the mobility would be helpful for future Erasmus students I think.
DURING THE ERASMUS PERIOD
First days and Welcome
1. Was it easy to gain confidence with the transportation, with the city and with the structure of our University ?
Yes. The Erasmus Welcome Day was very good for us to get to know the campus and the little party that the students association organized was very nice, good for the moral, warm atmosphere, helped us getting to know each other and getting to know Italian students as well.
2. Did you feel welcomed from our students, professors and the citizens?
Without any doubts yes!
.
3. Did you attend the Welcome day?
Yes
4. Did you have any considerable first impression (positive or negative) different from your country, your university and the way to live of your country’s citizens ?
Frankly speaking, it seemed to me a much peaceful and calm environment both to learn and live in general compared to what is happening at home. People seemed to me happier, more relaxed and in some situations friendlier.
Evaluation of university, courses and language difficulties
1. Was it difficult for you to follow the practices, considering language and timetable?
There were some problems with the timetable, but it was quite difficult not to overlap courses, considering that I had courses from 3 different years. The language was a problem just in the beginning, after some weeks I managed to understand most of the classes and after the tirocinio I was able to speak (with a lot of mistakes, but it did the job very good).
2. Did you receive the help that you needed from students professors and student’s associations (IVSA/OMNIA/ESN) ?
Yes at every step
Free time and Fun
1. Did you have time to visit Bologna and other places around it? If yes, which one?
Yes. I visited Bologna and Ferrara, Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Milano, Verona, Firenze, Perugia, Assisi, Siena, Pisa.
2. Did you do some party or chill event in Bologna or with our associations (Omnia/IVSA / ESN) ?Did you enjoy it?
Yes and yes.
3. Did you visit some museum/ art expositions? Did you enjoy a cultural event? Did you do some excursion trip?
Yes, I visited museums and also public cultural events, 2 concerts in Bologna.
.
Cost Consideration
1. Compared with your country, was the life here more or less expensive (Accommodation, daily life, transportation)? Did you receive some help contribute from your university/country? Was it enough to live here?
The scholarship received from the university and the Erasmus scholarship helped covering the expenses with the accommodation which was more expensive than the one in my country. The expenses with food and transportation were not that different compared to those in Romania.
AFTER THE ERASMUS PERIOD
1. At the end of this experience, are you in general satisfied about the choice of this university ?Would you suggest to someone else this University ?
Yes, I am happy that I had the opportunity to be part of this exchange at UNIBO. I think I learned a lot of things and made me a better person. I recommended Bologna to other students back home.
2. Do you think did you do everything that you wanted to do? Do you have any regrets?
I think everything was fine, balanced. No regrets.
3. Has this experience opened your mind and have it taught to you something new to your way of thinking ?If yes, what?
Yes, because of this experience now I know other ways in which the profession is practiced in different areas. It made me closer to deciding which part of the veterinary profession I want to follow. It also made me want to repeat this experience without any fear.
4. Did you learn something new, positive or negative, about Italy, Italian people and Italian students andprofessors ?
I have learned a lot of positive stuff about Italy, Italians, and I am grateful for that.
5. If you want, tell me three best moments that will always be in your memory:
The welcome party in the first day of the exchange.
The fun I had with Cristi during our cohabitation in Ozzano
All the travelling, every new place I saw, and every weekend spent in Perugia
