The Project

DeepMilk aims to develop innovative methods to support farmers in achieving higher levels of quality, by obtaining information on the health status of cattle and the quality of production.

The DeepMilk project involves the Department of Agro-food Sciences and Technologies of the University of Bologna and the Department of Medical-Veterinary Sciences of Parma and lasts two years.

 

The background

The dairy industry is facing new challenges related to sustainability, climate change and animal welfare. To achieve high production quality standards it is possible to act at various levels, including the most important:

  • Ensuring traceability and authentication
  • Evaluating the nutritional properties and safety of the milk
  • Conserving biodiversity

The aims

The goal of DeepMilk is to obtain, from milk samples, information on:

  • the health of animals;
  • traceability and authentication;
  • genetic variability.

The structure

The project is composed of four Work Packages and aims to the achievement of seven Milestones.
Every two months, from a minimum of one to a maximum of three actions are expected to be completed.
