Gigapixel Imaging e dipinti di grande formato
Building on consolidated research experience in drawings and paintings, the project aims to enhance the region's historical, artistic, and cultural heritage by implementing a simple and relatively low-cost hardware and software solution to generate three-dimensional physical and digital surrogates of ancient drawings, manuscripts, and paintings using Gigapixel imaging technology. The replicas will feature high formal (50 µm) and colorimetric (CIEDE2000<1.5) resolutions and will have all the optical reflection properties of the originals in order to make them perceptually identical to them. The results will be explorable by museum visitors and professional operators (researchers, restorers, etc.) with interfaces offering progressive degrees of immersion and virtual reality (VR). Applications on real case studies will demonstrate the producibility of communication artifacts by non-specialized operators, thanks to automated procedures for the creation of both spatial content and customized captioning systems. With activities divided into ten Work Packages (WP), the project aims to achieve results of technological and industrial relevance, fueling the supply chain of companies involved in the enhancement of cultural heritage.
