“Comparative Courts” is a novel interdisciplinary Winter School on justice based on the collaboration between the University of Bologna and the University of Notre Dame, which will take place in Bologna, between the 9th and the 14th of January 2023 (3 to 7 p.m.).
It is an intensive one-week program taught in English aiming to provide a comprehensive comparative understanding of the different levels of justice.
The learning method relies upon the dialogue between the European and the American/Anglo-saxon models of justice, comparing them to systems of the Global South.
The School merges the fields of international law, comparative public law, European Union law, political science and human rights. It combines as well theory and practice, as in one session the students will engage in conversations with an Italian constitutional judge and an American judge from the highest jurisdictions.
