CFD analysis of a fluidic damper

Flow visualization of a fluidic damper

Description: The work is part of the industrial fluid dynamics activities, aimed at studying complex flows with immediate engineering and industrial implications. Specifically, the thesis concerns the study of the flow and pressure drops that occur in a reed valve typically used in dampers for wheeled vehicles.

Requirements: It is necessary to know how to work with numerical solvers such as Open Foam or Ansys

Learning objectives :

  • Operation and physics of wheeled vehicle shock absorbers.
  • Basic principles of numerical modeling of flows and use of CFD analysis software

Activities: Execution of CFD simulations with flow-structure interaction (FSI) on the model already set. Analysis of the results obtained;
