On September 15, 2023, Prof. Elena Orrù, Associate Professor in Navigation Law, and Dr. Ilaria Malaguti, PhD in Legal Studies, both members of the research group of the University of Bologna for the PRIN (Research Projects of National Interest) on the “Belt and Road Initiative”, participated as speakers in the “International Maritime and Transport Law Course”.
The prestigious conference, organized by the University of Rijeka, the University of Ljubljana, the Nicolaus Copernicus University, the World Maritime University and the University of Zagreb was held as always at the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik (Croatia) from 11 to 15 September 2023.
The international event was attended by distinguished lecturers, scholars and renowned maritime law experts and practitioners from various academic institutions, international organizations and professional firms from Croatia and abroad, providing a valuable opportunity for the discussion and the analysis of the existing or emerging international legal instruments and proposals for amendments to the relevant legislative and conventional sources in the maritime sphere.
In particular, Prof. Elena Orrù gave a lecture entitled “Smart ports – Current Challenges and Perspectives” as part of the panel specifically dedicated to seaports.
The speech of Dr. Ilaria Malaguti, within the panel on the analysis of current legal issues in maritime law, focused on the following topic: “Investments in Seaport Infrastructures and State Aid Law - The Most Recent Perspectives on Maritime Silk Road in Europe”.

On 8 September 2021, Elena Orrù, Associate Professor in Navigation Law and member of the research unit of Bologna, held a presentation titled "The Development of Transport Infrastructures in the EU States under the EU Digital Strategy and the Green Deal within the Constraints of the EU State Aid Policy", as part of the Maritime and Trasport Law Course. The course was organized by the Croatian Maritime Law Association, in collaboration with the University of Zagreb, the Adriatic Institute of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the University of Rijeka, the University of Zadar and the University of Split, at the Inter-University Centre (IUC), Dubrovnik, Croatia, from September 6 to 11, 2021.
