We are focused on the application of genetics, genomics, metagenomics, metabolomics and phenomics in the animal production sector to:
1) develop innovative animal breeding and selection programs in livestock and insect species and novel conservation strategies of animal genetic resources;
2) characterize, authenticate and trace animal-derived food products and production systems;
3) analyse various environmental footprints through environmental DNA (eDNA) information.
The research activities include all main livestock species, aquaculture species, wild and extinct animal species, insects, environmental DNA, One Health approaches and all main animal derived food products.
