Prof Diego Bucci is Doctor in veterinary medicine, PhD, Associate Professor of Veterinary Physiology , at the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences of the University of Bologna. Author of 70 full papers in peer-reviewed international journals.  Member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Association for Applied Animal Andrology; "Country representative" in the European society for domestic animal reproduction (ESDAR).

His scientific activity concerns the study of male and female gametes function of domestic species, their interaction and conservation. He performed studies on freezing sperm and oocytes techniques ;  sperm metabolism and energetic fueling in different domestic species different techniques; studies on sperm function by flow cytometry and sperm motility through open source and commercial CASA systems.

Educational activities in the field of domestic animals’ physiology, reproductive technologies and biostatistics.

Scientific activity concerns in vitro embryo production (maturation, conventional fertilization, ICSI, colture) and use of embryo transfer; animal gametes and embryo cryopreservation; animal reproduction and fertility; isolation, characterization and cryopreservation of mesenchymal stromal/stem cells for applications in regenerative medicine.
