Project

BIONIC aims to study sustainable and innovative binders, which also include self-healing features, for next generation batteries.

Objectives

• Computational study of different binders

• Comparison of binder properties

• Identification of changes to be made to the binder for better performance

• Testing and characterizing the resulting electrodes and cells

• Verification of the predictive capacity of the simulations

Impact

The identification of  the best, and low-cost, binder materials for battery electrodes has high technological significance and can lead to batteries with much higher power and energy, together with greater safety and durability.
