New beginnings for the annual Service-Learning course for the Master’s in Specialized Translation at UNIBO for the 2025-2026 academic year. On 6 October 2025 the first meeting for the course was held by coordinators Professor Silvia Bernardini, PhD student Patrycja Lidia Stempniewicz and research fellow Dallas Hopkins.
The meeting saw the presentation of the IN.TRA initiative to the students of the second year of the programme, beginning with the foundations of service-learning, a pedagogic method still little known in academic in Italy. After a general introduction on the role of working translators and the ethical and moral aspects of their work, Stempniewicz gave a more in-depth presentation of service-learning, analysing the key aspects so as to provide the theoretical groundwork for the semester’s activities and some points for reflection.
A presentation of IN.TRA was of course on the agenda for the day: along with a description of the agency’s principal activities, a few of this year’s community partners were presented to give students an idea of the types of projects they will be collaborating on this year. The intrigue of the wide variety of partners for this year piqued students’ curiosity, expressing their interest in the various projects presented. A full presentation of all 7 community partners and their projects for the year will be given on 3 November 2025 in Aula 9 of the Teaching Hub on the Forlì Campus.
