The availability of a large collection of L. helveticus from 1970 at DISTAL will provide a unique insight into the characteristics of L. helveticus. Preliminary data obtained on the isolates showed wide genetic diversity between the 1970 strains and those isolated in 2021.
Helv4DairHy at the 8th International Conference on Microbial Diversity
The Helv4DairHy project was presented at the 8th International Conference on Microbial Diversity (“Microbial Diversity for Empowering the Ecological Transition: Research, Innovation, and Technological Transfer”), held in Rome.
Giulia Tabanelli and Alessia Levante showcased the project’s progress to the international scientific community. In the Opening Lecture, Prof. Neviani highlighted the technological significance of microbial ecosystems in dairy niches with his talk “From single bacterial cells to microbial communities: the Natural Whey Starter.”
