The course will explore the ways in which a professional photographer can refine and transform their work after the shooting session, from both a purely technical and an artistic and interpretive perspective. It will reveal how modern technology makes it possible to “paint with light” even after the photograph has been taken.

Meeting Contents

First Meeting:

  • Types of image files (RAW, JPG, TIFF, BMP, vector files), what they represent and what their potential is
  • The capabilities of current digital cameras and the new RAW capture capabilities of modern smartphonesImage post-production software, from classic corporate programs to fully functional free versions
  • Assignment of exercises to be completed before the next meeting

Second Meeting:

  • Technical analysis of RAW files taken by the students during the previous week
  • Application of “technical” post-production adjustments (white balance, exposure, framing, etc.)
  • Digital noise management
  • Assignment of exercises to be completed before the next meeting

Third Meeting:

  • Creative use of post-production
  • Use of presets, LUTs, and other image color-grading tools
  • Use of masks (manual and AI-generated) to apply an artistic vision to one’s photographs
