Objective 1. UNDERSTANDING
To develop multi-disciplinary research on disaster events in order to elaborate effective and efficient governance and management models
SMART-ER! will initiate multidisciplinary research on disaster management. In this context, it is planned to develop an integrated seminar cycle for PhD students from the 5 UniBo Departments involved.
Objective 2. EDUCATING
To raise the level of awareness of the younger generation
SMART-ER! will develop an educational pathway aimed at secondary school students located in the 4 provinces affected by the May 2023 flood, which will allow, through the organisation of workshop seminars, the consolidation of a civil memory and a culture of prevention and emergency. The activities will also involve the teachers of the schools concerned and will also be aimed at preparing the Project's social campaign.
Objective 3. COMMUNICATING
To intensify the quantitative and qualitative level of awareness-raising
SMART-ER! will carry out, within the framework of the national ‘Io non rischio’ (I do not risk) campaign (Good Civil Protection Practices), informed awareness-raising actions for a culture of resilience, especially for the benefit of representative groups of civil society.
Objective 4. TRAINING
To enrich the skills of administrators and officials of regional public bodies in the management of calamitous events
SMART-ER! will implement a training course for administrators and officials of regional public authorities in two editions (2024 and 2025). The course will be multidisciplinary, involving all members of the Project research group. It will be included in SPISA's official training catalogue.
Objective 5. EMPOWERING
To disseminate knowledge on strategic foresight & scenario planning
SMART-ER! aspires to raise awareness of the importance of future scenarios, given the degree of uncertainty resulting from the increased occurrence of natural disasters and the digital transition. To this end, 2 workshops are planned for the co-creation of future scenarios impacted by climate change and new technologies.
Objective 6. ASSISTING
To bring academia and the community closer together in the management of relevant issues
SMART-ER! intends to offer direct counselling through the establishment of a dedicated technical-legal help desk, managed primarily by the Department of Legal Studies within its Legal Clinic. The desk will have the function of assisting citizens, policy-makers and stakeholders in the management of cases (selected in advance by the Project partners) that are particularly representative of the main issues emerging from disaster management.
