Systematically using display screen equipment in the wrong way can endanger your eyes and eyesight, as well as causing problems to your posture and leading to physical or mental fatigue.
Legislative Decree 81/2008, Title VII, “Display screen equipment”, sets forth specific obligations for employers in connection with the exposure of workers.
Anyone using display screen equipment systematically or routinely for at least twenty hours per week, excluding breaks, is exposed.
Technical and organisational risk minimisation measures can include the following:
Take a break or do something else for at least fifteen minutes every one hundred and twenty minutes spent using display screen equipment.
Arrange your workstation (desk, chair and surrounding environment) in such a way as to keep a correct posture for both your eyes and body; do not expose yourself to microclimate and lighting conditions that worsen the risk.
In order to avoid the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders and visual problems, maintain a correct posture, use your equipment properly, including your chair and keyboard, and adjust your workstation lighting.
