With My Voice – Third Edition

Speaking and Reading in Public: Diction, Breathing, and Reading Aloud

The sessions will explore the various technical aspects of clear and effective communication, providing guidance on diction and pronunciation, the use of voice and body when speaking in public, and microphone technique.

Participants will take part in expressive reading exercises based on literary texts provided by the instructor, while also taking into account their individual interests and preferences.

Participants are encouraged to bring a reading or presentation to the first session as a starting point for getting to know each other and for the work ahead.

Both complete beginners and those who have attended a previous edition of the workshop are welcome. For returning participants, advanced-level exercises will be selected where possible.

The workshop consists of five sessions, taking place on the following dates:

Donatella Allegro

Donatella Allegro is an actress, director, and theatre educator.

She holds a degree in Modern Literature and Performing Arts Studies from the University of Bologna and graduated in acting from the Silvio d’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts. She combines her work as a performer with that of a writer.

She collaborates with various organizations active in feminist advocacy, historical outreach, and human rights, contributing to the creation of public events and multimedia content for associations and research centres.

As an acting and playwriting instructor, she has collaborated with Teatro di Roma, Emilia Romagna Teatro – Fondazione, Cantieri Meticci, and ITC Teatro di San Lazzaro. She has also taught courses in diction, reading aloud, and effective communication for UDI Bologna, CGIL’s training department, as well as for various reading groups and libraries.
