WHATSlab - What History AT School : Textbooks Analisys and History Didactics

WHATSlab was created from the experience of the Course of Comparison of History textbooks of the University of Bologna

 

It promotes collaborative projects between universities, schools, publishing houses and experts, with three aims:  

1. analyze the use of history textbooks in schools;

2. compare history school textbooks in order to examine the teaching of history and its public use in different worlds area

3. connect school teachers, professors and university students in common training and teaching co-production;

 

 

The WHATSlab library

A selection of history textbooks for Upper Secondary Schools from India, South Africa, Senegal, Mozambique, Uganda-Tanzania-Kenya, Brasil, Argentina, Mexico, United States, France, Great Britain, Spain and Italy.

 

 

Workshops

Seminars, meetings, conferences, training courses dedicated to the issues of teaching history in schools, with a particular focus on the use of school textbooks and digital materials.

 

 

The course

History school textbooks: editorial projects and comparative analysis in international perspective is a course of the Master degree "History and Oriental Studies" led by Vittorio Caporrella e Giovanni Isabella. The students will choice and copare a topic in history textbooks from different areas of the world.

 

 

Focus and projects

Research on the teaching of history conducted by groups of university teachers, students, school teachers.
