Videomaking: foundations, techniques, and career paths

The workshop includes both theoretical and practical components. In addition to theoretical lessons covering technical and historical aspects of the medium, participants will engage in hands-on activities using their own equipment outside of class.
The works produced will be reviewed and discussed in class.

Registrations are closed; the workshop is fully booked.

The workshop will take place every Wednesday starting 26 February.

26 February 2025, Aula I (first floor)

• Participant introductions, instructor presentation, and an overview of the "Un Cinquantesimo" Cooperative project.
• A brief history of cinema
• Assignment of a practical exercise to complete at home

05 March 2025, Aula I (first floor)

• Writing: how to structure an idea and bring it to life as a video.
• Discussion of the previous assignment and introduction of a new one.

12 March 2025, Aula I (first floor)

• Filming: camera operation, lenses, and framing techniques.
• Discussion of the previous assignment and introduction of a new one.

19 March 2025, Aula IV (second floor)

• Editing: an introduction to software, explanation of what a timeline is, and mapping out essential tools.
• Discussion of the previous assignment and introduction of a new one.

26 March 2025, Aula I (first floor)

•  Discussion and practical work on the students’ projects.

The workshop is led by Elia Andreotti

Elia Andreotti, a videomaker, is a founding member of the Un Cinquantesimo Cooperative. The cooperative tells stories through audiovisual media, working in the cultural, social, and environmental sectors to promote virtuous initiatives that safeguard the planet and improve human well-being.
